Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District March 17 Primary Is One of the Earliest 2026 Midterm Contests in the Nation and Pits an Establishment Candidate Against a Working Class Champion 

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – People’s Action Power is proud to announce its endorsement of Illinois State Senator Robert Peters (D–Chicago) for Congress.  A champion for affordability, workers rights, climate action, and criminal justice reform in the State Capitol, State Senator Peters offers a people-powered campaign to take on the billionaire class and greedy corporate interests to improve the lives of the Illinoisans in the 2nd Congressional District. His March 17 primary is one of the earliest contests on the 2026 midterm calendar. Peters squares off against a candidate who inherited a political dynasty, yet failed to deliver for Chicagoans. 

Sen. Peters is also endorsed by People’s Action Power network organization, The People’s Lobby, as well as 3rd Congressional District Representative, Delia Ramirez, among many other endorsements from grassroots organizations, member-led unions, and community representatives in office.

He proposes bold solutions for housing, health care, and utility unaffordability, as well as the Trump regime’s attacks on our communities, threats to the environment, and violations of our inalienable rights and freedoms.
